My overall research goal is to identify drivers of vegetation change in Sierra Nevada meadows. I focus on livestock grazing as one of the many ecological processes and management practices that affect these important montane systems. My study sites are on the Stanislaus and Sierra National Forest, and my work has the following specific objectives: 1) Determine plant-water interactions and explore the effects of climate changes on these interactions; 2) Compare the potential impacts of different grazing treatments on meadow ecosystem resilience; 3) Quantify the spatial and temporal pattern of livestock grazing using time-lapse digital photography
