Climate Change and Environmental Justice

I am interested in the intersections between climate change impacts and adaptation and environmental justice. At the moment my work focuses on small islands and distribution of risk, vulnerability, and adaptation resources. In the long run I am looking for adaptation solutions which increase community resilience in an equitable way. My field research is focused on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I am working with KAHEA, the Hawaiian Environmental Alliance, to develop their climate justice campaign. I have also tentatively begun work in collaboration with Dr. Cheryl Anderson at the University of Hawaii (Manoa) to examine the social impacts of climate change in Hawaii.

International Environmental Politics

I also have a strong interest in international environmental politics, particularly processes related to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, international environmental norms, and the establishment of authority in international processes. I have worked with several organizations affiliated with the UNFCCC process and have attended several international negotiation sessions, including UNFCCC COP13 in Bali, Indonesia.
